Hello, my friends! How are you?!

Welcome! My name is Leilane Ribeiro, born in 1990, and I am a from Brazil. Please call me Lei! This blog is about my plan to travel around the world for 10 years. Followed. Non-stop. With no going back home. Now I am a traveler and my life is the road. One month in each country (at least and hopefully). Absorbing as much as possible of the culture of every country I go.

I have decided to live and travel using almost no money at all. Here is how I do it:
– I travel by hitchhiking;
– I do a volunteer work in each country I go, so I get all I need: food, a place to sleep and I get to know more about the culture by living with locals;
– I camp in the wild (love it!) when I am traveling around the country for 1 week, visiting different places and small countryside towns;
– I get all my clothes from donation;
– I don’t go out for drinks or food (I don’t really enjoy doing that);
– I haven’t had a mobile phone since 2014, and only in 2022 I created an Instagram account (but if you would like to advertise my blog in yours, please fell free for it! Let’s help more travelers to get some good tips!);

The reasons for why I am doing this are many:
1. Love travelling
2. Curiosity about the whole fucking big world (and not only a few countries)
3. Foo Fighter’s album / series, Sonic Highways, 2014 (it showed me that a country is much more than only its capital)
4. No family
5. Fresh graduation
6. No job to quit
7. No career’s plan
8. Huge difficulty to make choices (this envolve the 2nd and 7th and next reason)
9. there are so many things I like to do and would like to work with it (decoration, cooking, photography…) and travelling like that allows me to do, easily, a few of them
10. And mainly: why not?! Until where I know, we just live one life, so why not to try as much as you want to?

Everyone should  be able to do whatever they want to do. And most of times we are able to it. We have all the conditions to do it, we just need to have the courage. You will see here that travels do not have to be all about money. That is a huge lie! Or an excuse. If you want to travel, if it is what you really want to do, you can. You always can. All those things that are crossing your head right now (and I bet that at least these main three are: family, job and money) are something that society made you to believe you are attached to or that you have to have it. That is bullshit! Fight for your freedom! Figure out what do you really want to do. What truly makes you happy? Be you the one in control of your decisions. It is your life, nobody else.

I started a brand new life on the 19th March of 2017. Many people say “If I could, I would let everything behind and start again…”

Well, I did that.

But be aware! This is not a travel guide! I don’t suggest places to eat, hotel to stay, or touristic attractions. I’m writing about everything that happened to me. I write what I see and do. My funny, scared, unbelievable or even dangerous stories, my little chronicles, my life from now on. I travel for love, and not to have a travel blog. Some people seem to travel only thinking in what they will write and post on their blogs. That’s not me! Travels are my passion. Writing in the blog is a consequence of that passion. So even if you aren’t a traveler or aren’t planing to become one, you can just be my guest into some interesting (is that true?) real life stories.

So, what you think about it? Are you good until now? Cool! Let’s make this thing happen! Go and start to check out what you prefer. Just remember: the posts are in chronological order, just following my way, which makes much more sense for me. There is just one particularity: Every week, I’ll post one text from the past, when I started the travels, and one from the present, what just happened to me (my 2 time lines finally met on January, 2022). Like that, all the friends I’ve been making can have some news about me right now, while the whole history is still being told.

Enjoy!
