The alleys and small streets of the old town are cute and full of personality
Český Krumlov

25th to 27th of February, 2020.

Teresa and Pavel are just adorable! She is a nurse and he is a very qualified photographer. But both are working in a McDonald’s in Austria (they leave very close to the border) so they can make more money. Such a waste of talent! But I hope that soon enough they are able to do what they actually love!
After they picked me up, we go to the supermarket to get some vegetables, beer and ingredients for a guacamole, because Teresa wants to learn how to prepare it. Their house is almost in the woods and it is pretty cool! Teresa’s grandmother leaves in the second floor and she has lots of birds and rabbits. My new friend have just one pet: the cute black pug, Lazy.
The dish which Teresa prepared is simply delicious. She put some vegetables with spices to grill in the oven, as I did so many times, but the taste is just amazing. Luckily, they also love my guacamole. We spend the night talking a bit and watching videos from “Honest Guide”. But we go to bed soon because we are both tired and it is late already.
Next morning, after a delicious breakfast full of different cheeses, veggies, bread and coffee, we start our trip around the region. They are not working that day so decide to take me for a tour. Lazy joined us, of course! Yay!
It is an amazing day! Teresa and Pavel know so much about their country, from the small town details, to History of the country and, of course, about Cesky Krumlov. They show me places in nature, like the Devil Hill, this huge amount of rocks altogether, which forms a quite high hill; the ruins of a castle through the top of another hill; some castles and monasteries nearby; and we finish in Cesky Krumlov, with a perfect tour around the old town and a delicious beer in a local Brewery, to close the day in a perfect way. They want to have lunch somewhere in town but I convince them not to. It would be too expensive when we could simply buy some food at the supermarket and prepare something at home.

We had pizza with a homemade doll prepared by Teresa. After I offer them the chocolate eggs which Katka had gave to me. The plan for the night would be me showing them my Workaway profile (since they are planning to used in their up coming world trip) and my photos from Africa plus the stories of my trip around there. I am glad to tell them about my adventures, give them some tips about where to go and what to do and, luckily, plant a wish of visiting many countries over there as I did. I also show them the videos about “Europe Second”.
Because I could not find a CS in Karlovy Vary, I have to choose another destination. Thanks to them and the “Honest guide”, I decide to go to Pilsen.
In my last day, Teresa and Pavel are going to Ceske Budojovice to watch a Czech movie, kind of a documentary about pedophilia. We leave home earlier because there is another castle they want to show me plus the Nuclear factory, with four huge turbines, from where crossing the street they watched the last episode of Chernobyl.

If you look closely you can see me… The State Chateau of Hluboká

Before going for the castle, we have a short trip around Ceske Budojovice, which ends in a beer, of course. The castle is just amazing! Really beautiful! Like it had come out of a Fairy Tale book! And surrounded by beautiful tress and a nice garden. You can go a bit inside, like between the parts of the castle for free but you can also take a paid inside tour. They even offer to pay for a tour but I refused. I was truly happy with what I was seeing already.
After the crazy Nuclear factory, they drop me in a good spot for hitchhike.
