Hitchhiking to Pisa sucks! After four hours under the sun and nobody stopping, I have to change my strategy. So first things first and I have some breakfast. After that, I go to the Burger King nearby to make a new plan. The New Plan: to buy some food in a supermarket, eat (again, yeah) and then try another spot to Pisa. It is almost four o’clock in the afternoon and I have no high hopes about someone picking me up.
Gabriele comes to change that! He is a very energetic and nice guy, who is studying and living in Pisa. He is coming from a few days hiking with a friend and decided to stop for me. He is the one who tells me that Pisa it is the university city of Italy. And wow, it is full of youths.
So after some nice chat, Gabriele drops me somewhere in town and I find my way to the Pisa Tower. If I had more time I might would go around to see more things, but this time, I behaved like a Chinese tourist and just visit the tower. At least I spend some time there, probably more than one hour, swing my backpack in front of the tower. And also watching people taking 387 pictures in those stupid positions with the tower. But if you have more time than eye, I think you will enjoy going around the town for a nice long walk.
I decide to make my camping nearby the road I would hitchhike back to Florence, in direction of Venice. It is a dark road because it is this small way out of town, but I manage to find a good spot, actually in a open space to the other big road, but had no troubles to sleep that night.
